'She was born on Valentine's Day in 2013 in a hoarder house in a small town, and was quickly picked up by a rescue society.'

Her owners wrote occasionally Matilda had a 'squinty eye.'

'Shortly after her first birthday, her right pupil became enlarged and stayed that way for several minutes,' they said on Matilda's website.

Matilda was taken to veterinarians on several occasions and was eventually diagnosed with feline leukemia, her owners said.

However, the 'servants' said they decided to contact her rescue society.

Eventually, it emerged that Matilda was not the only cat with the 'extraterrestrial' features.

'When [The Lady] heard back from the rescue society there was a surprise - they had moved offices and had lost the contact information for Matilda's servants, and had been trying to reach them for months!' her owners said.

They continued 'As it turned out, two of Matilda's littermates had developed a mysterious eye condition, and they had been trying to re-find Matilda.'

It later was revealed the cat did not have feline leukemia, but 'Matilda displayed signs of spontaneous lens luxation, just like her siblings,' according to her owners.

They said on Matilda's website the cats have trouble recuperating from wounds and surgeries because they're deficient in collagen.

Both Matilda's right and left lenses have spontaneously detached, her owners wrote online.

The feline has lost her vision, with an Instagram caption from two weeks ago reading 'My eyes grow steadily worse and I can't see anymore.'

Matilda's owners wrote on her webpage 'After much discussion and consideration, The Lady and The Bearded Man decided with the veterinary ophthamologist's support that we would let Matilda's eyes do what they naturally would, and would not intervene with a traumatic surgery that did not appear to be helpful [sic].'

However, a GoFundMe page said 'She currently takes medicine to make sure she can keep her eyes functioning as well as she can, but inevitably will need surgery to remove them.'

It went on 'To prepare for the day that she needs serious medical care, we are hoping to put away some funds so that help is readily available as soon as she needs it.'

A Friday Instagram caption said 'So happy to have had a super great check-up today with my eye doctor! Confirmed that I am NOT in pain and NOT suffering from glaucoma. Surgery will wait another day!!'

The GoFundMe page is seeking to raise $2,500. If you would like to donate, click here.
