Rarely can childhood have come to as abrupt end as the time when 10-year-old Belle Adams was told that Father Christmas did not exist.

The young girl could not contain her fury, which she vented by scrawling a series of angry notes – including one with a “middle finger” obscene gesture – and shoving them under her mother’s door.

"You have no idea what you just did," Belle wrote. "I really tried to believe. Everyone told me it's your parents.

“I can't believe you anymore. Is the Easter bunny real? How about the Tooth Fairy, huh? You just ruined a 10-year-old child's LIFE thanks."

Belle’s mother Nicki, who lives in Maryland, described the episode on her Facebook page and the posting has been shared 17,000 times, the Daily Dot reported.

Initially she was concerned, but then, at least according to what she wrote on Facebook, she found the entire episode rather funny.

"We went from omg what did we do," wrote Adams in a comment on the post, "to omg that's so hilarious that I can't breathe!"

Peace has apparently been restored with Belle’s anger lasting for about an hour.
